With summer around the corner, this ice cold treat is our go-to treat when cravings for chocolate or ice cream strike. I love it because it’s a much healthier option and we keep all of these ingredients in our kitchen anyways! This is best made in a Vitamix or other high powered blender.
This recipe is for one serving of 200 calories. We usually make 2 or 3 at a time by using straight multiplication, depending on who is home.
Chocolate Silk Smoothie
Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1/4 avocado
1/3 oz cashew nuts
1/4 oz raw cacao powder (1 teaspoon is enough)
1 tsp coconut oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt (I don’t bother)
1 tsp organic blue agave syrup
5 ice cubes
Directions:
Place all ingredients EXCEPT THE ICE in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Add ice and blend again. Pour into glass and enjoy immediately. I often put it in the freezer if I need a few minutes and don’t want it to melt.
I know there is some debate about the use of the agave syrup. If anyone can suggest a better alternative, please post it in the comments below.
